Avid gardeners are invited to show off their green thumbs and horticultural brilliance in the 2022 North Sydney Garden Competition.
The past two years of pandemic lockdown have resulted in a huge number of locals turning their hands to gardening. So why not show off your skills and win some great prizes. Whether you have a botanical balcony, a grand backyard or are part of a community garden group, there’s a category to suit every type of gardener in the North Sydney Garden Competition.
Residents, businesses and community organisations in the North Sydney local government area (LGA) have until 30 August to enter the annual awards.
North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker said that the Garden Competition plays an important role in bringing the North Sydney community together.
“A firm calendar favourite in North Sydney, the Garden Competition has persevered and bloomed every year during the pandemic, in different renditions such as remote judging and online Award Presentations. This year we are looking forward to celebrating together in person,” Cr Baker said.
“The competition and gardening itself is effective in bringing a diverse range of North Sydney residents together – from new gardeners on their balconies to experienced gardeners volunteering in our community Streets Alive program.
“It is also an opportunity to share your pride and joy and go in the running for some great prizes and awards.”
There are 12 garden entry categories: balcony, courtyard, indoor garden, front garden, back garden, shared garden, children’s garden, native habitat garden, edible garden – private, edible garden – public, Lex and Ruby Graham prize – individual and Lex and Ruby Graham prize – group.
Competition entry is free and closes on Tuesday 30 August. Find out more details and enter online at www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/gardencomp
