After a 2-year hiatus it’s time to get back to the Nest…

‘Connection, Culture, Creativity’. That is the tagline for this year’s Crows Nest Festival and, after two years of COVID-related cancellations, everyone is well and truly ready to get back to the Nest!

The event will return this year on Sunday the 16th of October from 10 am – 5 pm. With the organisers, Crows Nest Mainstreet, looking forward to sharing all the usual charm and some new fun additions, it is bound to be worth the wait.

2022 will be the 31st year of the Crows Nest Festival. As before, the event will bring together the local Crows Nest business community and aims to harness the best that the main street offers. JoEllen Henderson from Crows Nest Mainstreet tells us that they’ve taken advantage of a couple of years off to reinvent the festival.

“We have used the two-year hiatus to run a couple of small alternative activations to trial new ideals for the main festival. So not only can you expect all the usual favourites, but also some new and exciting elements,” says JoEllen.

Crows Nest has always been considered a bit of a foodie haven so delicious eats are definitely going to be a highlight. Burlington Street will be renamed Food Alley for the day. Here, the exceptionally wide and diverse range of cuisine that Crow’s Nest prides itself on will be on offer for all to enjoy. And long-time crowd favourite Lola Cocina Spanish Restaurant will still be there sharing their much-loved paella (pictured above).

Crows Nest Hotel will even be running Mexican-Themed Crowie Cantina licensed area for you to relax with a cocktail and some tacos while enjoying the all-day entertainment.

JoEllen says that the most significant focus for the festival’s return is sharing the community spirit. Being a community event, the organisers also pride themselves in the festival being very family friendly. This year the introduction of a Circus Playground will keep the little (and big) kids happy. As will the always popular petting zoo and pony rides.

If you’re a local business owner keen to get in on the action, never fear! Stallholder registrations have not closed yet so you can still book your place and be a part of this fabulous event.

Add some vibrant live entertainment, and over 150 intriguing market stalls and you have one perfect spring day out. We can’t think of a better way to spend your Sunday than enjoying yourself and supporting your local community.
