If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to jump inside a game of Mario Kart, North Sydney is about to get the next best thing.
Opening at Greenwood Plaza this September, Karts District combines real electric go-karts with immersive gaming technology, allowing drivers to race through virtual worlds while navigating a physical track. It’s a completely new take on go karting in North Sydney, blending real-world driving with digital courses, obstacles and interactive gameplay.
Unlike traditional go-karting, racers wear a headset that transforms the arena into an immersive gaming environment. As you steer your electric kart around the course, virtual tracks, challenges and power-ups appear around you, creating an experience that feels more like stepping inside a video game than driving around a circuit.
But go-karting is only part of what Karts District has to offer.
More Than Just Go Karting
The venue also features X Space, a free-roaming virtual reality adventure where teams work together to battle enemies without being restricted by wires or harnesses.
Thrill-seekers can jump aboard the Virtual Rollercoaster, choosing from five different experiences, while arcade fans can test their skills in Beat The Hero, which combines rhythm gaming with augmented reality, or take on famous motorsport circuits in the Race Simulator.
For something completely different, Space Ride lets players embark on a fully immersive spaceship adventure through five unique virtual worlds.
Fun for Families, Friends and Corporate Groups
Designed for everyone from families to corporate teams, Karts District focuses on immersive, full-body gameplay that gets players moving rather than sitting behind a screen.
Children aged five and over can take part in many of the experiences, making it a fun family outing, while corporate groups can book team-building sessions for something a little different from the usual office activity.
Opening This September
Karts District opens at Greenwood Plaza in September 2026. Bookings can be made online, and visitors can use the venue’s app to purchase, share and transfer tickets before they arrive.
