The annual Seniors Festival launches this month with an aim to help everyone ‘reconnect’ after lockdowns through a variety of free events – from a Mexican fiesta to a Beatles sing-along.

The NSW-wide Seniors Festival runs from 25 March to 3 April, with more than 40 events being held in North Sydney alone.

North Sydney Mayor Zoe Baker said: “I’m sure this year’s Seniors Festival theme “it’s time to reconnect” will resonate with many of our residents.

“It’s been a difficult two years, especially so for our older residents who may feel more isolated at the best of times.

“Our Seniors Festival events provide the opportunity for our older residents to reconnect with friends or make some new ones while enjoying a favourite hobby or trying a new activity.

“All the activities are free and provide the chance to try something new – whether it be knitting, dancing, meditating, or writing. There are also plenty of lunches, morning teas and games events to enjoy.”

In addition to all the one-off classes and experiences, the Neutral Bay Community Centre will be hosting an Open Day on 30 March.

Some of the North Sydney Seniors Festival highlights include:

Garden Party at Kirribilli: The Kirribilli Centre’s annual garden party luncheon is a popular event local seniors look forward to each year. This delightful event will be an opportunity to reconnect with other seniors who have been isolated throughout the pandemic.
