NumberWorks’nWords North Sydney

NumberWorks’nWords North Sydney is running two holiday programs in September!

Our Maths and English Holiday Course is open to all ages. Revise, catch up or be extended with our curriculum-based Maths and English programme. We make learning fun with individualised goals and positive reinforcement, and we offer a free assessment to determine your child’s specific learning needs.

Dates: Monday 25th – Friday 29th September, 10.00am – 12.10pm

Cost: $130 per two-hour session

We are also offering an Essential Study Skills course just for Years 7-11 students. This specialised course will help your teenagers tackle their exams with confidence and will cover topics such as note taking, study timetables, preparing for exams and test taking.

Big Music Crows Nest School Holiday Camps

Big Music’s holiday camps run 9am-3pm daily in each week of the holidays, with three options:


The perfect way for younger kids (age 5+) to start their musical journey, the URE program gives them a chance to try a range of contemporary instruments including guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and keyboard.


Rock Shows are for kids who are ready to rock (age 9+ with at least one year’s musical experience). Working with inspiring professional musicians, kids join a real rock band and prepare for an awesome stage performance.


The Junior Rockers Holiday Show is designed for up-and-coming primary school-aged kids who either already play an instrument or have enjoyed the Ultimate Rock Experience and are now ready to take the next step. A short audition is required for first-timers. Working with inspiring professional musicians, kids join a real rock band and prepare for an awesome stage performance.

Balmoral Water Sports Camp

“Have Fun – Be Safe – Learn New Skills – Make New Friends” these spring school holidays!

Our “Multi-activity” water-sports camp offers different activities throughout the day, including Sailing, Windsurfing, Stand up Paddleboarding, Kayaking and games on/off water, with a major emphasis on having fun, and gaining & improving water-sports skills!

Every day is a different day with changing weather conditions, new games and new challenges. We welcome kids with water-sports skills & abilities as well as total beginners. Our aim is to introduce kids to water sports, gain more confidence on the water, and learn sailing in a fun way. We also really encourage making new friends.

Kids can start from 7 yrs old to 15 years old, they must already be able to swim 25m confidently. We have 3 different age groups: 7 to 9yo; 10 to 12yo; and 13 to 15yo. We will also make sure they are put together with friends on the 1st day if required. Be prepared for a fabulous week of fun and learning. It’s exactly where your kids want to be, rain or shine!

Good to know: Children are to bring their own packed lunch. The program will continue in wet weather conditions. Please ensure you or your child are aware of the weather forecast for the day and have packed accordingly.

Netball Fun Skills Clinic (5-12 years old) Willoughby

Come and join the fun and learn some new netball skills at our one-day only holiday program for 5-12 year olds at Willoughby Courts run by experienced coaches from The Netball Crew and Cammeraygal Netball Club.  There is a half day or full day option and we offer a day filled with fun, netball skills and games with friends.  Places are limited so be quick to not miss out on this popular program. Bring your own lunch, snacks, drinks.  Meet some professional players too!

If you’re searching for something fun (and free!) to do with the kids, have a look at the kids’ trail on The Coal Loader website. It’s a mobile-friendly, self-timed way for your kids to explore the great outdoors whilst finding listed items and answering fun questions. They’ll uncover the site’s history, all its sustainability features, native planting, food gardens, bats, chickens and more. All you have to do is head to their website and use your mobile to navigate the trail. Easy!

Where is the Green Sheep Scavenger Hunt, North Sydney

Follow the clues to find the sheep around North Sydney in this scavenger hunt based on the popular children’s book by Mem Fox.

The Where is the Green Sheep? Scavenger Hunt is a great September-October school holiday activity for children and families.

From 25 September to 6 October, nine coloured sheep will be grazing around North Sydney, but can you find the green sheep? Scan the QR codes next to the sheep, and use the clues to work where the next one is located. Keep looking until you have the final clue and arrive at the last destination. Children will receive a free craft pack and sheep cookie when they reach the end.

It’s free to participate, and all locations are within walking distance of Stanton Library. Bookings are essential to join in.

Come & Try Orienteering, Willoughby

Orienteering is a navigation sport anyone aged 8 to 80 (or older) can get into. It combines a love of the outdoors with the challenge of finding your way with just a map and compass. It’s something anyone can do as it’s suitable for casual walkers to the superfit runner. Go it alone, or get a group together – it’s a great activity for families, and could be quite an adventure if you let the kids read the map (we’ll have experienced orienteers on hand to get you through). Courses range from 2km for beginners and young children right up to an 8km course for fit adults. Most courses take about an hour.

Sydney Fringe Festival’s Fringe Kids Program

Sydney Fringe Festival will present a vibrant line-up of shows across three spaces for Fringe Kids this September, including two weeks of school holiday programming at ARA Darling Quarter Theatre, in partnership with the Monkey Baa Theatre. Plus, the brand new Spiegeltent Festival Gardens at the Entertainment Quarter and the Hello Darling Tent at Darling Quarter are bringing high-energy entertainment in the daytime tailored for families and kids.

Tickets are on sale for the full program of events, with highlights spanning immersive theatre experiences, circus performances, dance, music and storytelling.


ARA Darling Quarter Theatre:

Wilbur the Optical Whale (29 – 30 September) will see audiences transported to an underwater world full of stunning circus tricks, digital imagery, lively music, and interactive play. Based on the book by Karen Lee Roberts, Wilbur the Optical Whale is an enchanting story where children are taken on an immersive journey to engage with the environment around them.

101 Ways to Annoy Your Parents and Other Really Old People (23 – 29 September) sees multi award-winning kids comedian Matty Grey bring his hilarious new show to Sydney.

A Wonderfully Wacky Wizard (24 – 25 September) is a hilarious high-energy show full of songs, dances and comedy. Let Winni Wizard take you on a journey as she tries to remember the true meaning of magic and prove that she’s still Wizard worthy.

Hello Darling Tent, Darling Quarter:

CaBox (24 September) is a free, sustainable and hands-on family event, encouraging creative recycling. Participants craft unique creations using cardboard, which they bring to the Boxwars battlefield. In a spirited frenzy, these creations are gleefully destroyed, resulting in a cardboard chaos that highlights the impermanence of their work.

Piccolo Ponies (23 – 24 September) will see Fairy Erin and Unicorn Piccolo sing and dance their way through Fairyland. Unicorn Piccolo, a real miniature pony, will showcase his tricks as the magical team discover how imagination can create endless possibilities of fun.

KABOOM! (23 September – 1 October) is a 60 minute science spectacular full of explosions, experiments and hilarity, brought to you by mad scientist Magnus Danger Magnus.

A Pocket Sized Circus (16 – 30 September) is a hilarious choose-your-own-adventure show featuring multi-award-winning showman Morgan James.

CIRCUS The Show (28 September – 1 October) is the latest trailblazer in children’s entertainment featuring world-class illusions, tumbling acrobats, highly skilled jugglers, breath-taking and elegant aerialists, and an endearing clown with his gigantic 6ft balloon.

Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco Hall (9 September – 1 October) is a multi award-nominated high-energy dance session for under-fives. Join DJ Monski Mouse and her dancers as she plays retro hits and remixed nursery rhymes.

PreHysterical (2 September – 8 October) is a hilarious show for all ages following three foolish Neanderthals as they struggle to survive in a harsh world, featuring incredible circus tricks and tongue-in-cheek humour.

Dinosaur Time Machine (23 September – 1 October) is a unique theatrical production incorporating circus, puppetry and imaginative play for kids aged 3 – 9. Get up close and personal with a life-sized T-Rex and learn up-to-date science and fun dinosaur facts.

Dinosaur Festival at the Australian Museum

The Australian Museum is open every day of the school holidays with an exciting program of free educational activities for the young ones. From October 3-8, they’ll be running a Dinosaur Festival celebrating the Earth’s ancient reptilian beasts and the world they inhabited. Bring the kids along for live science shows, performances by a singing palaeontologist, a T. rex autopsy, palaeo illustration workshops, as well as a brand-new Hologram Dinosaurs experience. Times vary for each session with the full program available on the Australian Museum website.

Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies

Tinkerbell is flying into the Royal Botanic Gardens for a magical quest with the fairies from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
