The Treehouse Hotel

Looking for a sense of nostalgia and fun with your next dining experience? The Treehouse Hotel is a local favourite for good reason!

North Sydney’s The Treehouse Hotel, with its whimsical interior, has been treating guests to delicious food and fabulous cocktails for over 10 years. Located on the bustling corner of Miller Street and Pacific Highway, it’s a sanctuary from the hubbub of everyday life, with a bar that has also become increasingly popular as a spot for after-work drinks.

“The aim was to come up with a venue that would be relevant for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper…an easy-going relaxed style but with exceptional service and great fresh produce,” says owner Andrew Utiger.

But more than that, The Treehouse was opened to create a sense of nostalgia and fun for people dining in the restaurant.

Ditching the sharp city look for a bright vintage vibe, it’s intriguing from the time you enter.  It was built from scraps of timber and other salvaged and vintage materials from places such as the Heritage Building Centre in Rockdale or weekly Raffan Kelaher auctions.

The result is a culmination of old oak doors, antique iron gates leading into the courtyard, and a wall of salvaged louvres decked up with LED lights. Expect the decor to include second-hand chandeliers, vintage armchairs, original hotel-style toilet doors and more.

“The Treehouse is a home away from home….with a mysterious little twist. We have created a space that keeps our customers both intrigued yet comfortable, inspired yet not intimidated. Every nook is filled with an intention, it’s a venue that emotes,” says Andrew.

General Manager, Lucy Christopher adds: “We don’t simply offer food and beverage….The Treehouse guests leave with full stomachs and a refreshed wine palette, and also a taste for more adventure. This is due to the intricate detail we put into everything. From the chosen lampshade to the reading chair, the venue has an endless flow of romance and old-world meets new.”

What’s on the menu?

Head Chef David Maisey runs the menu at The Treehouse courtesy of his 15 years’ experience working in various kitchens in Byron Bay, Lord Howe Island, Avalon, Freshwater and Arthouse Hotel. Expect to find a contemporary Australian menu, a very happening cocktail list, an ever-rotating tap of beers and an extensive wine selection.

For breakfast you’ll find eggs, smashed avo, a brekky roll, house-made Granola with berry compote and the Breakfast Bruschetta.

Lunch and dinner sound even harder to choose from: with enticing menu items such as the Buffalo Mozzarella, Kingfish Carpaccio, Masterstock Poached Chicken Salad, Hawaiian Style Poke Bowl, Confit Duck Leg, Gnocchi, Grass Fed Eye Fillet or Market Fish of the Day.

There is also the Bar Menu filled with cocktails, beers and worldly wines to choose from.

“Our staff are trained with exceptional food, wine, cocktail, spirit and service knowledge, and are daily fed with new and exciting ways to serve. This mixed with an incredible ambience makes for a mix of magnetic features all-round,” says Lucy.

If you’re keen to experience the sense of nostalgia and adventure for yourself, head on over to the Treehouse Hotel and enjoy this amazing little urban sanctuary in our midst.
