Lobby Boy, the long-anticipated new venture from The Grounds’ team, has finally opened in North Sydney…
There have been exciting news reports for years now of the clever people behind The Grounds of Alexandria looking to set up something in our local area. Fans will be thrilled to hear that they’ve at last made it over the Bridge! Café and dining space Lobby Boy has just opened its doors in North Sydney at the bottom of Northpoint Tower.
Just as The Grounds lives up to its name with a stunning and expansive space, Lobby Boy aims to create an inviting lobby experience. Ramzey Choker, the Founder and Director of The Grounds and The Grounds of the City, collaborated again with design wizards ACME and The Cromwell Property Group to ensure they’re giving their customers something “that will make their day that little bit special”.
Says Ramzey, “The way we live and work is changing. More and more people are able to work from anywhere, hours are becoming more flexible and office spaces are more transient. Our goal for this space was to create a warm and relaxing environment to suit the modern workforce. We wanted to turn the Northpoint Tower lobby into the ‘lounge room’ of the office block, a community hub and the go-to place for catch-ups.”
You won’t find Kevin Bacon or Margoat Robbie in this lobby, but there’s still that famous touch of whimsy and a firm focus on fabulous food and coffee.
Breakfast is served from 7.30am, with a selection that will satisfy the hungriest of North Sydney office workers, such as the Cheesy Croissant with Bechamel, gruyere, cheddar, fontina and spinach. There are, of course, also muffins, muesli, avo on toast, and the wonderful ‘green bowl’ among other options. But the real brekkie drawcard without a doubt would have to be the Brekky Burger Jaffle with maple glazed bacon, free-range egg, roasted tomato, and smoked BBQ mayo served on a brioche bun.
Lunch is up another notch again and Lobby Boy is also fully licenced. There are small plates such as the steamed black mussels and steak or tuna tartare, or for something more substantial, there’s the spiced buttermilk chicken burger, the rueben on rye, or even steak, snapper, and pork and veal meatballs, or a wonderful selection of salads and bowls with your choice of protein.
Beverages include smoothies, juices, house-made sodas and some seriously great shakes, such as the What’s Poppin with salted caramel, popcorn and ice-cream. The after-work crowd (or late lunchers) will be thrilled with the cocktails, wine-list and some tempting bar snacks as well.
Lobby Boy is at your service from Mon-Wed from 7.30am-4pm, Thurs-Fri 7.30am-late, and Sat from 9am-2.30pm. You can check out the Lobby Boy website for more, including some whimsical poetry!
“The office is overwhelming, the workplace is too boring. Susan keeps complaining and you can hear Peter snoring. When the office is too much and you’re feeling down beat, Lobby Boy is waiting with delicious things to eat.”
Lobby Boy is located at Northpoint Tower, 100 Miller St North Sydney
