Head to the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden of Sydney this spring for the annual Artisans in the Gardens Exhibition. Australia’s best established and emerging artists and craftspeople will showcase over 3,000 artworks and entry is free!

From totems to teacups, stoneware to delicate glass and robust garden art, this year’s Artisans in the Gardens is the place to find a bespoke treasure. This diverse and unique exhibition includes a selection of the most popular artists as well as championing emerging artists.

Artist: Katherine Mahoney

Held annually in the grounds and rooms of Lion Gate Lodge at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the exhibition will run from Saturday 21 October until Sunday 29 October, opening daily from 10am -4pm.

The nine-day event features over 3,000 works by over 40 artists including a wide range of mediums such as sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, embroidery, weaving, textiles and more.

Curator Libby Wright is excited about the works included this year, with treasured artists from the last few decades combined with exciting new artists.

“People expect to see new things, including a wonderful mix from the tiny to the magnificent. We always say, we’ve got something from $20 to $20,000 making this exhibition accessible to all,” says Libby.

Artist: Sarah Lamond

Kirribilli textile artist Yaja Hadrys will be featured in the exhibition. Yaja loves direct collaboration with nature in her textile work. She forages locally for flowers and leaves which are artistically arranged on material, before being wrapped in bundles and steamed. Nature then imparts its beauty on the fabric.

Individually crafted garments and accessories are made from the finest, natural fabric, with the focus on the surface design. All fabrics are hand dyed and contact printed with local plant life, some seasonal.

Artisans in the Gardens is a great opportunity for visitors to purchase a piece of art for their own collection inspired by the gardens, whilst showing their support for the Gardens and artists.
